Research Assistant (available immediately)
A position is open for a full-time research assistant in a vigorous research laboratory working on a variety of biochemical and microbiological research projects.
An ideal candidate should have an undergraduate degree in any of the biological sciences, with a strong exposure to biochemistry, microbiology, and/or chemistry laboratory work. The candidate should be comfortable with microbiological sterile techniques, culturing of microbes in the laboratory, skilled in pipetting, making solutions of reagents (know how to calculate molarity, w/v percentages, adjust pH, understand buffering), should understand how to handle acids, bases, salts, oxides, and organic solvents in the laboratory, and knows how to use Excel. Prior experience with enzyme assays and/or DNA cloning will be an advantage.
The candidate should be detail oriented, self-motivated, able to appreciate constructive criticism, flexible, collaborative (team player), able to produce succinct research reports, and be passionate about a future career in science.
